Opt-in:

Aoba was basically grown in a lab, so this comes with it some unusual abilities. Feel free to opt-in to part or all of the following. Opting in does not give me a free pass to use the ability/ies without asking first when it comes up in a thread, and you can always rescind it at any time if a thread isn't going in a direction you're not comfortable with!

Abilities:

  • Scrap: (Light) At it’s lightest version, Aoba’s unique vocal chords can allow him to convince or even control others into doing what he says by speaking. For example, early in canon he regularly uses this to get difficult customers to buy more products from him. Later, when his companions are arguing amongst themselves, he yells at them to stop (using Scrap) and they immediately fall silent. Heavier versions include single-word commands that cause damage or incapacity (e.g. Uttering the word “fall” and the hearer collapses).

  • Scrap: (Heavy) The most powerful use of Scrap involves Aoba reaching into another person's mind (or numerous people) to render unconscious, put into a coma or kill, but Aoba tends to use only to repair psychological/mental damage to someone. Other Aoba more readily uses this ability to disable, control or kill others. This ability is poorly defined in canon — generally described like overwriting a hard drive — and is used as a plot device. It's available to other players if they wish to have an opportunity to remove mental blocks that result in physical changes (personality or physically) that would otherwise be impossible to change. However, in order to be successful with this use of Scrap, Aoba must know them well enough to navigate their mindscape without doing damage. Examples: Noiz' CIP condition miraculously disappears after a successful Scrap, Koujaku's and Mink's intentions for suicide are changed for the better, and Ren inhabits the body of Aoba's twin brother to become a real boy in the world's most bizarre Pinocchio story.

  • Unusually Developed Vocal Chords: This is more of a physical trait than a skill, but Aoba is frequently complimented (or becomes the subject of obsession) for his voice. His genetically modified vocal chords appear to effectively have a passive ‘attraction effect’ that some people respond strongly to, to the point of unhealthy obsession. Basically, up to player discretion how effective this is.
